Hydraulic
pumps deliver high-pressure fluid flow to the pump outlet. They
are powered by mechanical energy sources and use gears, vanes, pistons
or other devices to pressurize fluid. A hydraulic pump, when powered
by pressurized fluid, can rotate in a reverse direction and act
as a motor. It can be used for setting cement retainers where mud
or cement pumps are not available.
A hydraulic hand pump
is used for all varieties of low and high-pressure testing and various
other oilfield uses such as removing cores from core barrels; plungers
from insert liner pumps, testing valves, fittings, tubing and casing
etc. It acts as an actuator for hydraulically controlled valves
and hydraulically operated systems.
